What is PPT?

PPT stands for Precious Points Tournaments. There are two series of 10 tournaments in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
You do not pay an extra fee for the PPT.
Look for the Precious Points link on the Home Page

Mokum open on Saturday and/or Sunday?

Yes! Mokum Open is played during the weekend of 10 and 11 March 2012.
The Main Tournament is played on Sunday, March 11th.
There is even a (limited) warm-up tournament on Friday, March 9th

You can choose to play only on Sunday.

There are three divisions: Expert, Advanced and Beginner. Expert is a PPT tournament.

The Main Tournament Expert is of the type Progressive Consolation with a winners bracket and a losers bracket. As long as you win, you play in the winners bracket. When you lose, you start playing in the losers bracket - hence "Consolation". Up to 32 players, even the losers of the semi-final enter the Consolation round.

The Main Tournament Advanced will be Progressive Consolation or Pool / Round Robin.

Beginners play 3 point matches (without the cube) in a Round Robin or Swiss format.

There is also a Quizz on Sunday. It consists of 10 backgammon positions. Up to you to pick the best move.
And there are Jackpots (4/8 players, winner takes all) during the whole weekend.

Pool Qualifiers on Saturday?

Six (6) players play in a pool qualifier Expert or Advanced. The format of the pool qualifier is Round Robin, thus you play 5 matches, one match against each player.
The first round is random, next rounds: top ranked vs top ranked.
The top 2 finishers qualify for the Main Tournament on Sunday.

For all divisions there are also Quarter Entries (4 players) and Half Entries (2 players).

Side Pool?

The Tournaments on Sunday have an optional Side Pool. Obviously only players who choose for the Side Pool can win it. The top finisher(s) of the Main Bracket get a result.
Please take note: when you rebuy, you can only continue playing the Side Pool if you buy two Side Pools.

Rebuys?

If there is not a full bracket, the losers of the First Round (we call it: Initial Round) can opt for a rebuy. If there are more candidates than available rebuys, there will be a draw for the rebuys. The Tournament Comittee will decide whether the rebuys are for the second round or the first round. This decision will be made before the start of the Tournament.
